George Wood is the founder of The Luna Entertainment Group, a UK-based producer and promoter of live experiences, exhibitions and events. Alongside some of the world’s most iconic TV and film IPs, the team are the creators of “The Luna Cinema”, the leading brand of open-air and pop-up cinema experiences in the UK.
Coming from a background in theatre, George spotted an opportunity fifteen years ago for presenting films in prestigious outdoor settings – where the location and ambiance is as important as the film itself. The Luna Cinema produced over 200 screenings each year at sites from Royal Palaces to medieval castles and every prestigious or iconic backdrop in the country. During the pandemic, Luna expanded to drive-in cinemas which welcomed over 200,000 people that year alone, making it the largest season of drive-in cinema ever in the UK.
In 2016, Luna developed an annual immersive touring event around the iconic TV series, FRIENDS™. Working with Warner Bros to create exact replica sets and backdrops, as well as a range of exclusive merchandise, the event quickly became a sell-out success. The FRIENDS™ Experience launched its European tour in Paris in 2022 and has since toured to many European markets including Brussels, Amsterdam, Dublin and in 2025, will see its first visit to Madrid. In August 2024, The FRIENDS™ Experience: The One in London opened as the UK’s flagship location taking its long-term home in the ExCeL Waterfront, London’s immersive entertainment district. To date, Luna has welcomed over 1.3 million Friends fans to sit on the iconic orange sofa.
The Luna Entertainment Group’s other recent projects include Disney100 The Exhibition and an award-winning run of Jurassic World: The Exhibition, which welcomed over 315,000 people across a 5-month residency. In 2024, Luna opened Batman Unmasked: The Exhibition in London and Manchester followed by Formula 1: The Exhibition in London, selling over 320,000 tickets to date and winning Best Visitor Experience at the Access All Areas Awards. Luna rounded off 2024 by opening Wicked: The Experience at UniversalStudios Orlando, in celebration of the biggest film release of the year.
Luna is part of the Sony Masterworks Live division of companies and is currently working on a number of interactive and immersive experiences for the UK market and beyond.
